The bells became unringable and unsafe. It was essential that action be taken to remove them and remedy all the failing materials. The lofty initial goal is to have the bells removed, overhauled/tuned, new bellframe, new wheels, new floors, new ropes.

Refurbishing the Bells and everything in Stage 1 is essential, but that's not where the story ends once Stage 1 is complete. There remains many other items that need attention so the bells can be rung by safely and comfortably. In addition, there is an urgency to train new bellringers so the bells can remain ringing for centuries to come. The bells are a part of the Pembroke landscape and community, we want to integrate, embrace and welcome new bellringers using more modern training methods and increase visibility of what we do.
