Thank you Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir for the very enjoyable concert at St Mary’s Church Pembroke on Friday. Lots of positive feedback. £330 raised for the bell fund. Excellent piano playing by Will.
Hope your next concert at Monkton Priory on 4th May at 3:30pm goes well.
Another fun Quiz Night taxing those brain cells while having a good time! We raised £304. Thank you for coming and donating!
Henry Tufnell, MP and his wife Poppy visited the bell tower at St David’s Cathedral on Sunday 1st December to learn about the work to restore the bells at St Mary’s Pembroke. Henry and Poppy were hosted by tower captains Peter Hayward (St Davids) and Anne Bunker (Pembroke) accompanied by members of the ringing band of St David’s and ringers from around Pembrokeshire. Henry and Poppy saw the band ring the peal of 10, the tenor weighing in at 1.3T and bell 4 at 400Kg rung by one of our younger members aged 12.
Bell ringing is open to all; irrespective of age, creed or agnostic.
Our MP and Poppy had a tour of the cathedral bell chamber and an explanation of how bells are rung with an introduction to the physical and mental acuity that bell ringing develops and the teamwork needed to sound great in what is a very public performance.
The St Mary’s Pembroke Bell Restoration project fund thanks Henry and Poppy for giving up their Sunday morning and their keen interest to understand more of what bell ringing is, what it offers the community and the work of the Restoration Fund at Pembroke.
The event raised £322 for the bell fund - many thanks to the supporters and those who had a fun night
A great evening had by all, the event raised £662.00
Congratulations to the team that made this happen. Thanks to all who attended and made the donations.
