News Flash - Levelling Up Fund Grant Approved!

£154,000 Approved For Pembroke Bell Restoration

Pembrokeshire County Council has approved £154,491 grant for Pembroke Bell Restoration as part of Pembroke town £11,715,141 levelling up rejuvenation. Further donations to Pembroke Bell Restoration will enable the old 2nd bell cast in 1784 to be used as a training bell on young ringers. Blyth and Co are the appointed bell hangers for this project. Taylor’s are the appointed foundry for the 3 new bells. Watch this space for further news but with a following wind you may hear the bells in early 2026.

Fundraising

We have a lofty and daunting goal to raise £261,266 in order to complete all the work necessary to ensure that the bells of St Mary's Pembroke will remain ringable giving pleasure to ringers and listeners alike for centuries (yes "centuries") to come.  But we need your help.  We have many willing and able volunteers, but materials and professional workers must be paid for.  We're working on a Grade I listed building, so all workmanship and materials must be to the highest standard.  We've been working hard physically (see Our Progress page) and finanically to raise money.  We are pursuing every lead we can, from grants to gift aid, but we need your help too.  Whether you attend one of our fundraising events (see Events page) or simply want to donate (see Donate and Sponsored Gifts pages) we very much appreciate your help and support. Thank you.

    What is it all for?

Pembroke Bell Restoration: Making a Difference

Bells have rung in the church of St. Marys, Pembroke since the 1760s but were allowed to get in a terrible state. Notoriously challenging to ring and out of tune, the bells needed significant work to save them and improve them to the standard the historic Norman tower deserves.
